One of the most common questions we get is whether a skip permit is needed. The answer comes down to a single factor: where the skip will sit while you fill it. Here is everything you need to know.
On your driveway or private land
If the skip stays entirely on your own property, no permit is required. You can have it delivered and start loading straight away. This is always the simplest and cheapest option, so if you have off-street space, use it.
On a public road or pavement
If the skip needs to go on a public highway, including the road or pavement outside your home, you will need a permit from the local council. The permit ensures the skip is placed safely, lit at night and removed on time.
How much does a permit cost?
Permit fees are set by each council and typically run from around twenty to sixty pounds for a standard period. Some councils also require the skip to have lights and safety markings, which we provide as standard.
We handle the paperwork
The good news is that you do not have to deal with the council yourself. When you book a road placement with us, we arrange the permit on your behalf and add the cost to your quote, so there are no surprises and nothing to chase.
Local knowledge across the region
We deliver across more than thirty towns in West London and the South East, and we know each council process inside out. Book your skip and, if a permit is needed, we will take care of it.
